Hello Madison Heights Little Baseball League Families,
This is a long message, but please make sure to read in its entirety as it contains very important on the 2021 season.
It has been a while since we have communicated with all of you regarding the status of the league and we wanted to let you know that the Board of Directors have been discussing the prospects of a 2021 season. Though we have not met as frequently as we would like, we are confident we will be moving forward. Additionally, we have had conversations with some of our partnership cities and they are also planning to move forward with their 2021 seasons as well.
There will be some protocols to follow, but it is our goal to create measures that have the least negative impact on your children’s experience, while still abiding by the safety requirements of local government, the county, the state, or even the nation at that time. One way to minimize the restrictions, will be to push the start of the season slightly later than we had started in 2019. We have not yet opened our registration until these protocols are worked out. This is something that the Board will discuss during our upcoming meetings and we will plan registration opening around our target dates.
Look for further information coming soon via email or check back on the website often.
Now we have to shift our message to sad news. Earl Stone, President of the Madison Height’s Little League, passed away due to long-term health conditions that finally caught up with him. On Christmas Day 2020 our region lost one of the largest influences on providing baseball to kids in the local communities. Earl, with the partnership of his wonderful wife Polly, had dedicated his life to making sure baseball is around for the kids. For the families who have had the pleasure of playing at the fields in Madison Heights know that those fields were created and are managed due to the influence of Earl Stone.
To honor Earl, and to do what is right for the kids, let’s make sure we start this year fresh and have some fun in 2021. In the next couple of months we will be asking for help with certain tasks. Please volunteer and we will make it a fulfilling experience for the kids and for you as well.
